From Morning to Midnight

2020

In the spring of 2020 theaters were forced to close their doors. So what did we do? We took our performance out to the streets and adapted it into a hybrid of site specific live performance with voice & sound components streamed live to the audience’s smart phones creating an experience of an urban pilgrimage.

Our comtemporisation of Georg Kaiser’s expressionist and anti-capitalist morality play From Morning to Midnight from 1912 consisted seven stations around the Copenhagen Nordvest area. The audience attended into a procession arriving to the stations one by one. At these stations they experienced a movement installation, a scene or a video. Along the journey to the next station from their headphones they listened to a soundscape, a dialogue, an interview or a podcast around the central themes of beauty, death, racing, sex, power, social media and salvation.

In this piece I played the part of Death, following the audience and the main character throughout the play in the streets of Copenhagen NV area.
